A devastating ‘X-factor’ winger signs new contract with Bristol Bears

Explosive winger Siva Naulago has been rewarded with a return to top form after injury struggles with a new contract at Bristol Bears, the club have confirmed.

The flying Fijian made 32 appearances for the Bears, scoring 16 tries, including a long-range effort against Newcastle Falcons at Ashton Gate in Round 16 of the 2023/24 Gallagher Premiership. Naulago also made 146 yards against the Falcons, beat eight defenders and made four clean breaks in a typically eye-catching display.

Bristol director of rugby Pat Lam said: “Siva’s return from a long-term injury has been hugely exciting for both him and the team and his performances since his return have shown exactly what he is all about – pace, power, X-factor and ability to score tries.

“He’s worked hard to overcome some big injuries over the last few seasons and he’s back, fitter, faster and stronger than ever, so we’re excited to have him back on the field and committing to the Bears for next season.”

Naulago, 33, joined Bristol in 2020 after switching codes from rugby league, having previously played for Super League side Hull FC.

Naulago said: “I am so grateful to all the staff behind the scenes at the club – the medical team, the athletic performance department and of course my coaches and team-mates – for helping me through the tough times on the sidelines.

“I’m enjoying my team with the Bears and I can’t wait to repay the trust placed in me by everyone at the club. It’s an exciting time to be with the Bears and I’m enjoying every minute of it.”
