The Saharan plume is set to bring another heatwave with Coventry among the UK’s hottest

Another heatwave could be on the way as new weather maps show a Saharan plume will hit the UK next week. With it it could bring temperatures set to top 22C from Thursday 23 May.

It comes after what has been the hottest weekend of the year so far, with parts of the country baking at 26 degrees Celsius, according to the DailyExpress. Sizzling sunshine was also enjoyed in Coventry and Warwickshire.

The forecast for next week calls for temperatures to be warmest in the Midlands, which includes our region, as well as the North East of England. The map shows that the temperatures are set to stay into next weekend.

The Met Office said in its long-term forecast. that “it’s still hot” all week. While the long range local forecast for our area is not yet available, this week’s forecast calls for “unsettled” weather.

It’s shaping up to be a mix of sunny and showery spells, some of which could be strong. It’s still set to feel warm, but it will be cooler than last week.
