Bristol, Virginia Fire Department receives smoke detector grant

BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — The Bristol, Virginia Fire Department has been awarded a Community Risk Reduction grant for smoke alarms, the department announced Monday.

The grant was awarded through the Virginia Department of Fire Programs and is aimed at enhancing the fire safety and livability of homes in Bristol, Virginia.

The fire department will receive a free supply of smoke detectors to be installed in homes in Bristol, Virginia.

A new retail store, MINISO, is coming to the Mall in Johnson City

Tenants or renters may also receive a free smoke detector from the owner of the rental property.

For a free smoke detector, call the Bristol, Virginia Fire Department at (276) 645-7420. Smoke detectors will be available while supplies last.

The department said it hopes to begin installation in June.
