Leeds United players have been urged to make the most of their second opportunity by the former White

Simon Grayson has insisted that everyone at Leeds United needs to wake up and realize they still have a chance of promotion to the Premier League.

A run of one win from their last five Championship games meant Leeds missed out on finishing in the top two and gaining automatic promotion.

Leeds will now have to prepare for their play-off semi-final first leg against Norwich City at Carrow Road next Sunday.

There is real disappointment at Leeds about missing out on automatic promotion, but Grayson stressed that the opportunity is not yet gone.

The former Leeds boss insisted that everyone at the club must not forget that they still have a shot at promotion and must rise for the play-offs.

Grayson told BBC Radio Leeds: “It’s a big disappointment, but I keep saying it, there’s a second chance to get to the Premier League.

“That has to be the message for everyone, from the owners to the manager, to the players and to the fans.

“Everyone who has any Leeds affiliation needs to realize that there is still a second opportunity for us to get into the Premier League.”

Leeds’ recent play-off record has been woeful as they have failed to gain promotion in their last five play-off appearances in League One and the Championship.
