The Narrowboat is pictured sinking near the Wiltshire town

People in Wiltshire were stunned to see footage of a boat sinking in the Kennet and Avon Canal.

The narrowboat was first seen on Tuesday, May 14 sinking halfway between Bradford-on-Avon and Trowbridge – partially blocking the waterway near Woodbrook Wood.

A bystander said he saw a group trying to float him without success.

There’s no name on it, so it’s a mystery who it belongs to and if they’re aware their boat is sinking.

One person uploaded some images to the Spotted in Bradford on Avon Facebook page with the caption ‘does anyone know whose boat this is? and I know it sank?”.

Someone else in the group commented “how does a barge sink?”.

Meanwhile, others explained that if there is a lot of water that cannot be pumped out, such as if there has been heavy rain, or if there is a problem with the pump, the boat is likely to sink.
