Man City vs Tottenham player ratings as Stefan Ortega incredible and Erling Haaland good

Erling Haaland scored twice as Manchester City beat Tottenham 1-0 in the Premier League to maintain control of the title race.

Pep Guardiola’s side only need to beat West Ham at home on the final day to secure a fourth successive Premier League title and will breathe a sigh of relief to leave north London with all three points. They were particularly indebted to Stefan Ortega, who made a series of superb saves after replacing Ederson in the second half at 1-0 down.

Haaland then made the game safe with a late penalty won by Jeremy Doku. Here’s how the players rated it:

Ederson: He wasn’t happy to go out, but he took a serious hit from Romero and couldn’t be risked. He did well before that. 7

Walking frame: We got into some promising areas from the top, but unusually he didn’t look to shoot. He was busy with Son Watch on the other end. 7

Dias: A shaky performance, making uncharacteristic errors that put City in more danger than they needed to be. 5

Akanji: Solid enough, aware of the danger at the back and making sure City weren’t caught out by Spurs’ fast attack – until he almost exploded. 6

Guardiola: He improved defensively at the weekend, even if he couldn’t match his two goals. He needed a cool head and he got it. 7
