National Express is improving its routes to and from Liverpool

Long-distance bus operator National Express is introducing upgrades to its routes to and from Liverpool this month.

This comes as the company celebrates a year of passenger growth, with more than 19 million customers traveling on the coach network in 2023 – a 25% increase in passenger numbers from 15 million in 2022.

Ahead of the summer holidays, National Express is upgrading its 170 service between Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds. It brings Warrington (Hulme) into the network and also serves Manchester Airport, reintroducing locally available journeys on the key travel corridor.

The revised 170 timetable will be introduced from 17 May, while from the same date the 171 service between Liverpool, Manchester, Bradford and Leeds will also see the same improvements.

In addition, the bus operator has enhanced its 550 service between Liverpool and London, calling at Birmingham and Milton Keynes, giving customers more convenient daily journeys to choose from.

National Express is also continuing to invest in its fleet, with 150 new vehicles expected to hit the roads this year.
