So Love Island could be completely canceled or filmed in Cornwall this summer

As we gear up for the summer months, that usually means three things: vacations, beer gardens, Love Island. But because of the coronavirus pandemic, it looks like all of that will be different this year.

There has been much speculation as to what will happen to the summer series of Love Island, with people suggesting that the show could take place later in the year.

However, new reports reveal that the show could be filmed in Cornwall, not Spain, or canceled altogether.

ITV’s director of television, Kevin Lygo, said producers considered filming the series in Cornwall but were concerned that “doing it in the UK wouldn’t be the same show”. TBH, there might be a point. Islanders who are frozen in wetsuits don’t seem to have the same glamor as the tan and bikinis we’re used to.

A final decision on whether to cancel the show will be made in the coming weeks, Lygo said, speaking at a virtual television festival in Edinburgh.

He also said it might not seem appropriate for islanders to live together in a villa while the rest of us follow social distancing rules.

He explained: “What signal could be sent if we do a show where everyone is huddled together, slaving over each other, while the rest of the world is told not to go near anyone in the park?

“We are approaching the moment of ‘is it feasible?’, ‘will Mallorca open its doors to hundreds of production people?’, ‘will there have to be a quarantine?’ We have to take all of this into account. make a decision soon.”
