10 ways to celebrate Liverpool Loves Eurovision

It’s been a year since Liverpool hosted what has to be the best Eurovision ever, so now’s the chance to celebrate again.

The atmosphere that has taken over the whole city in the run up to the 2023 contest has been absolutely incredible and there will be plenty of great Eurovision events to coincide with this year’s on Saturday 11th May.

If you want to join the party as title holders Sweden take over the hosting duties, here are 10 things to do to celebrate Eurovision 2024 in Liverpool…

Malmö on the Mersey

It’s Malmo’s turn to bring the Eurovision magic this year, and if you’re a big fan but aren’t planning on going to Sweden, here’s the best. Malmö on the Mersey at the Exhibition Center on Saturday 11th May will be a fabulous grand final party with one of last year’s EuroVillage big stars Vengaboys coming back to do it all again!

Welcome to Aquatopia

Remember the Blue and Yellow Submarine Parade that took over the city center streets at Eurovision? Well now the Deep Sea Disco is back at the Pier Head on Saturday 11th May with Crafty Fish afternoon workshops for families at Mann Island, Katumba dancing and drumming outside the Museum of Liverpool and a marine themed catwalk show and DJ on the submarine. Stage near the ferry terminal, 14-19.

Beats on the Streets

As part of Liverpool Loves Eurovision, from 1pm to 7pm in Saturday’s grand final, Beats on the Streets will take over Castle Street, Liverpool ONE and the Royal Albert Dock with 30 pop-up music and dance acts supported by local artists, including a host of Eurovision classics. hits.

Find Venga

Get in on the super-cheesy Eurovision fun early with a unique game of hide and seek on Thursday 9 May. After last year’s Spot Sonia, now it’s time to browse Vengaboys’ pictures, take Venga selfies and stand a chance to win prizes. . Fly High installation

Eurovision 2023 wasn’t just about the party, there was some brilliant art too. This year The Bluecoat will present Fly High, a special art installation by artist Andrea Ku from B4 Biodiversity, featuring beautiful blue and yellow butterfly lanterns created during family sessions, which will be hung in the trees at the Bluecoat’s School entrance Lane.

MuniVision: A spectacular Eurovision

The wonderful Municipal Hotel in Liverpool is hosting its very own Eurovision Spectacular on Saturday 11th May and it starts the moment you arrive. Enter the hotel entrance and you’ll find a perfect Eurovision-themed installation for selfies. You can enjoy 2 for 1 on selected cocktails with Eurovision-inspired names and colours, or mix it up at a Cocktail Making Masterclass between 17:00 and 19:00.

Social Liverpool on Stanley Street will recreate all the glitz and glamor of Eurovision for a live viewing party on Saturday. Surround yourself with superfans for a night of cocktails, costumes and some spectacular performances. Admission is free, doors open at 5:00 p.m.

First Take’s Queerovision brought us updates in the run-up to Eurovision last year, highlighting the role of Liverpool’s LGBTQ+ community at the event. Now a documentary has been created that looks back at the brilliance, the high camp joy, the poignancy and the power of what happened seen through a strange lens. Watch it for free and in full on FACT on Saturday, before the grand final, 4.45-6pm.

Here’s the Eurovision duet you didn’t know you needed until it was here… how about a live screening plus a fantastic burlesque show? Arts Bar Hope Street presents Eurotease on Saturday, featuring all the countries competing live, burlesque shows, cocktails and a prize for best dressed. From 7 p.m.

Camp & Furnace EuroClub

Camp & Furnace was the scene of many fabulous Eurovision nights last May when it hosted EuroClub – now the party is back! On Saturday, EuroClub is back with a live screening of the grand final in Malmo, so get your flags ready because it’s time to relive all the Euro mayhem. 6pm to 2am.
