As the player himself confirmed, Marc Roca has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave again on loan if Leeds are not promoted to the Premier League this season.

With that, Mundo Deportivo provide further insight into the matter, sharing that Betis would still like to sign him permanently at some point.

However, if Leeds fail to gain promotion, they are looking at a cut price in the summer of 2025, knowing that Roca will only have one year left on his contract from then.

If Leeds are in the Premier League next season, that loan clause no longer applies, raising further uncertainty for Roca.

The problem is that Leeds’ rather modest asking price mentioned in the report is €10m (£8.6m), which Betis feel is too much.

Having impressed in midfield and at centre-back this season, it wouldn’t be too surprising if another La Liga outfit snapped him up.

You have to worry if Roca has this loan release clause in his contract if we don’t go up, because it would suggest he’s not the only one.

It would be bizarre for Leeds to have these clauses included everywhere, but equally strange if we only had it for one of the players and nobody else.

If we get promoted I can see him being sold quite easily, even if Betis claim they couldn’t afford £8.6m.
