Honda Files New Design Patent For Scrambler- Possible Royal Enfield Scram 411 Rival?

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India is planning on expanding its BigWing model lineup with new bikes based on the CB350 platform. Based on the revealed design patent these new bikes will be off-road capable and might be in the adventure and scrambler bike segment.

New design patent for Scrambler bike

The segment once dominated and ruled by Royal Enfield alone is now populated with multiple models from different manufacturers. Among these OEMs is Honda. After a design patent for an adventure bike rivaling Royal Enfield Himalayan, a new patent from the brand has been revealed showing outlines of a scrambler-style bike. The new bike taking shape will be based on the brand’s 350 cc, single-cylinder engine platform which is already in use on bikes like CB350 in the Indian market.

Based on the blueprint, the bike seems to be a completely new product that will open the gates for the brand to a new segment. Furthermore, the unique design elements offset the possibility of it being an updated version of the Honda CB350RS. Getting into the details, the bike seems to have a new body style personified by its tank design which is a bit more angular and small when compared to the normal elongated design and rather smoothed-out lines of the CB350 bikes. The brand has also added a metal bracket to the fuel tank. Adding to it are the raised handlebars.

Moving ahead, the bike gets a raised two-piece seat with the front part covering part of the tank. This is one of the characteristics commonly associated with off-road capable bikes. It also gets an extended tail section and upswept exhaust. The bike in its production version might also get front forks with rubber gaiters and conventional shock absorbers at the rear end. Chances are the braking will be handled by disc brakes on both sides.
