Man named and charged with GBH after ‘street knife attack’

A Nuneaton man has been charged with GBH after an alleged street ‘knife’ attack. Steven James, 41, of Purcell Avenue in Nuneaton, has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and two counts of threatening a person with a blade in public.

It follows an incident just after 9pm on Saturday (May 4) when officers were called to Purcell Avenue. A man reportedly suffered “significant” head injuries after being attacked with a “bladed weapon”.



There were reports of a large police presence in the nearby Lutterworth Road area, close to the Attleborough care home and leisure ground, James is due to appear at Warwick Crown Court on Thursday, June 6.
