‘In an instant’ – Overwhelming answer to the big question over the future of the former Coventry City favourite

The future of former Coventry City favorite Gustavo Hamer has been thrown into doubt with reports that Sheffield United are ready to snap up the player just 12 months after he joined the club.

The Sky Blues reluctantly sold the Dutch midfielder last summer, receiving £15m for the player who has made it clear he wants to continue his career in Premier League football. But after 12 months, the Blades were relegated back to the Championship and it was claimed the South Yorkshire club were open to offers and looking to recoup their money on Hamer in order to use the money to strengthen the squad elsewhere.

Mark Robins joked last week when discussing Callum O’Hare’s future that, like Hamer, he would miss the club if and when he moves on this summer, pointing to the number of times the former star has returned to CBS Arena to watch. his old teammates from last season. While Hamer is highly unlikely to be a realistic option to return to the club, the mere question of whether fans would want him back has sparked much debate on social media. Here’s what people said about the hypothetical question.

Neil Smith: It depends how much Sheffield united owe him for him, maybe a deal could be reached, but at the end of the day the player has to want to come back. I think his agent will try to get him another Premier League team.

Jon Gould: I would love him back. The reality is that we don’t pay the tax or the salary.

Chris Allen: I’d have it back in a heartbeat. I think he’ll get a Prem move though. I’ve been watching Sheff Utd quite a bit this year and in the brief moments they had the ball they showed it was Prem quality. Good luck to him.
