Devonshire Homes rises to new heights with the grand opening of Gotham House

Devonshire Homes welcomed the Mayor and Mayoress of Tiverton, Wally and Ann Burke, to an official opening ceremony for their new headquarters at Gotham House in Tiverton. The grand opening marks a significant milestone for the company as it continues its journey of growth and expansion.

The ceremonial ribbon cutting at the special reception took place outside the recently restored Grade II listed building, with representatives from Tiverton Civic Society and Mid-Devon District Council and key members of the Devonshire Homes team, stakeholders and local building partners in present. The event gave guests the opportunity to view the new office and learn more about Devonshire Homes’ growth plans.

Located in the heart of Tiverton on Phoenix Lane, Gotham House is an 18th century Georgian house with a rich history dating back centuries. Devonshire Homes moved to Gotham House from their previous office at Lowman Green in December 2023, remaining in Tiverton. The new headquarters offers four floors with meeting rooms located on the ground floor.

Angus Cook, managing director of Devonshire Homes, said: “We are delighted to officially open our new premises, with our staff, key building partners and local councilors on hand to celebrate this proud occasion with us. This move not only gave us the extra space we needed, but also allowed us to remain firmly rooted in Tiverton, a town we have always called home. With the recent launch of our new site at Mariner’s Haven in Ilfracombe, our land exchange to develop Phase 2 at Longston Cross in Bovey Tracey and our recent success with Cornwall Council granting a resolution to proceed with new homes in Penzance , there is much for us to celebrate.”

Mayor of Tiverton, Wally Burke, said: “I am so excited to be here at this iconic building in the town to officially open the doors to its exciting next chapter with Devonshire Homes. The building has been beautifully restored and given a new lease of life by a local business with firm roots in Tiverton, which is wonderful to see. It is particularly appropriate for me to be present, given that the house was rebuilt after a catastrophic fire in 1731 by George Davey, who was mayor of Tiverton at the time.”

The company aims to double its turnover and deliver 400 homes a year over the next five years.
