PR agency ready for the national award

Fresh Communication has been shortlisted for a national ‘David & Goliath’ award for its work with gender equality charity The Fawcett Society, which called out Jeremy Clarkson’s sexist article in The Sun, where he described ‘hate’ his for Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex.

The national awards are organized by the Sheila McKechnie Foundation and celebrate charity campaigns that make a difference, particularly those that take on large organizations and challenge vested power.

The Fawcett Society is a long-standing client of Fresh and together they accepted The Sun newspaper to print the article, which resulted in a historic victory when the press regulator, IPSO, upheld the complaint on the grounds of sexism.

New director Lisa Sutherland said: “We are all very proud of the work we have done in calling out sexism and misogyny in the media and to now be recognized with this nomination for the prestigious ‘David & Goliath’ award is a huge boost for the Fawcett and Fresh teams.

“Campaigning is the lifeblood of many charities and it is right that it should be recognized as an important tool for social change.”
