Wigan Warriors boss confirms duo on loan at Hull FC and Castleford Tigers

Wigan Warriors manager Matt Peet has confirmed that striker duo Sam Eseh and Tiaki Chan will go on short-term loan in Super League.

As revealed by Rugby League Live this morning prop Eseh will return to Castleford Tigers on a short-term loan, while versatile forward Chan will spend the next two weeks with Hull FC.

Speaking about Eseh and Chan at the weekly press conference, Peet said: “It’s game time, they both deserve to play in the Super League. He trains very hard here and trains to play. It gives them the outlet they need to get in shape, but also to show what they can do and be as prepared as possible if and when we need to call on them.

“I can’t wait to see them both playing in the Super League.”

“Again, Sam is a player we have identified. We know what his strengths are, we see him every day in training and he applies himself very well. I am confident that he will have real success here in the long term. He’s a young player and it’s about choosing the right opportunity for him.”

The Wigan Warriors boss gives an update on Mike Cooper and Sam Walters ahead of the clash with Huddersfield Giants

The Warriors could be boosted by the return of veteran Mike Cooper for Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield Giants, with the England international set to be named in Peet’s 21-man squad after missing last week’s win over Catalans Dragons due to concussion protocol cerebral.

Off-season recruit Sam Walters, who returned from a broken collarbone for the reserves at the weekend, will also be named in Peet’s squad for the trip to the John Smith’s Stadium.

When asked about Walters, Peet said: “When a player has been out for that long, especially when he hasn’t played properly for the club, you’re happy to see him there.

“I thought he integrated the game (for reserves). I’ve had some good chats with Sam this week and I think he’s going to get better and better.

“He and Mike will both be in the 21-man squad, whether or not they are in the 17 will be confirmed.

“He is a player we have identified who could add something and will be a good fit for us. That hasn’t changed. We’re all really excited to get him out there and integrate him into the team and the club. I’ve got no doubt he’ll bring something when he does, it’s just about getting his timing right.”
