North Wales: 10 blue-faced Leicester sheep stolen from Denbigh

10 blue-faced Leicester sheep were stolen from a premises in Green, Denbigh, North Wales Police’s rural crime team said.

The Bluefaced Leicester sheep were stolen overnight on May 4 or in the early morning of May 5, 2024.

Farmers are asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity or vehicles to the police.

Stolen quad bikes

Cumbria Police’s rural crime team has seized a quad bike for use in crime after two suspects linked to the thefts of two stolen quad bikes were jailed.

The quad bikes were stolen in the Keswick area and both suspects have since been released on bail with conditions not to enter Cumbria while the investigation continues.

Cumbria Police’s rural crime team thanked officers from Northamptonshire Police for their assistance in the investigation.

“The lambing season has been quite tough and we know how much our farmers rely on their quads, in addition to the impact of a stranger on your premises stealing your property,” the rural crime team said.

“We would like to encourage the reporting of suspicious activity – whether it’s a vehicle or a person causing some concern – please call 101. You may be able to help us prevent a crime.”

Quad bike owners are urged to review their security measures.

Advice from Cumbria Police’s rural crime team includes:

• CCTV and good lighting on your property – ideally this would want to have motion sensors and alert you remotely;
• Store quads out of sight, preferably secured in a building;
• Close the quad. Ground anchors and heavy duty chains and padlocks;
• Trackers – can detect motion and geozones can be set for peace of mind;
• Mark your property and advertise it;
• Write down the serial numbers of the machines and store them in a folder on your phone along with the photos.
