Danny Rohl reveals the shocking number of hours he works at Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has revealed how many hours he has been working at the club since taking over.

Rohl took over at Sheffield Wednesday in October, replacing Xisco Munoz, who left the club after a winless start to the 2023/24 season.

Since Rohl arrived, however, Sheffield Wednesday’s fortunes have been much brighter, with the Owls winning 16 games in all competitions under Rohl, ultimately finishing the season in 20th place and three points clear of the bottom three .

Rohl has worked hard in what is his first managerial job. And speaking to German media this week, he revealed he is working 80-hour weeks at Hillsborough.

Danny Rohl reveals the shocking amount of hours he works at Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday is notoriously streamlined in the boardroom, with owner Dejphon Chansiri overseeing far more than the average football chairman would.

There is no athletic director, no CEO or COO, so Rohl has had to step up, with reports early in the season that Rohl was even responsible for overseeing hotel reservations showing just how tight a ship the Sheffield Wednesday.

And speaking to German broadcaster RBlive, Rohl has now discussed matters behind the scenes, saying: “In Sheffield the structures are very weak.

“There is no sporting director or team manager. But I have a great team of coaches who support me very, very well.

“But let’s put it this way: There are easier first positions as a head coach. Lasts 70 to 80 hours – easy. The following are sometimes short.”

One thing remains key for Dejphon Chansiri

Rohl and Chansiri met recently and had positive discussions regarding Rohl’s future at the club.

The Owls boss wants assurances over the summer transfer window and also some improvements to the club’s Middlewood training ground, but there is one more thing that could do Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday the world of good.

A sporting director remains something that could be hugely beneficial for Sheffield Wednesday, with Rohl’s revelation about his work schedule illuminating just how difficult it has been for him and how well he’s done the job.

If there was someone to act as a go-between for Rohl and Chansiri and someone who can have some input in football matters, then it would take a lot of pressure off Rohl and allow him to focus more on the team.

However, it remains to be seen whether or not Chansiri would allow this. It looks like he will continue in what looks to be a very hands-on role at the club, although if Sheffield Wednesday can enjoy a positive summer, fans won’t mind who makes the decision.
