A teacher became pregnant by a schoolboy while on bail for having sex with another pupil, a court heard.

Rebecca Joynes is accused of grooming 15-year-old boy A by buying him a £345 designer belt before having sex.

Manchester Crown Court heard Ms Joynes, 30, became pregnant by another teenage student while awaiting trial.

Ms Joynes denies six charges of engaging in sexual activity with a child, including two while in a position of trust.

The jury was told the teacher was suspended from her school as police investigated the first offence.

Ms Joynes claimed no sexual activity took place.

The court heard that she was later released on bail on the condition that she have no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.

Joe Allman, prosecuting, said Boy A continued to attend court and answered questions from Joynes’ barrister in recorded cross-examination.

Mr Allman added: “The case was then adjourned to await the rest of the trial, but in the meantime it emerged that Ms Joynes had a long-term sexual relationship with another 15-year-old pupil of hers.

“At the right time (Boy B) gave his account.

“He said Ms Joynes was his teacher, they were in contact while she was suspended and he went to her flat when he was 15.

“They kissed and then, after he turned 16, began a full-on sexual relationship with her, which resulted in her becoming pregnant.

“So remarkable and in all fairness it all happened while Ms Joynes was on bail at this court.

“Of course she cannot deny that intercourse because she became pregnant with (Boy B’s) child and had (Boy B’s) child.

“Instead, this time she claims the sexual activity didn’t start until he was over 16 and she was eventually dismissed from school.”

The court heard she told the boy she could not get pregnant.

Joynes denies two counts of sexual activity with Boy A, two counts of sexual activity with Boy B and two counts of sexual activity with Boy B while a person in a position of trust.
