Liverpool are facing a huge summer as they look to challenge for the title next season. The Reds have not been lacking in the final weeks of the season and look set to finish third under outgoing boss Jürgen Klopp.

There are two games left in the Klopp era, with Liverpool traveling to Aston Villa on Monday before an emotional final day farewell when Wolves visit Anfield.

Arne Slot looks to be the man to take over and will work with sporting director Richard Hughes to identify transfer targets. At least one defensive addition will likely be targeted, but Slot may have other ideas about other places to strengthen.

Reds striker Darwin Núñez fueled transfer speculation this week after deleting Liverpool-related content from his social media pages. The Uruguayan has struggled for goals in recent weeks and found himself on the sidelines.

Here’s Liverpool.com’s verdict on the transfer gossip swirling around the Reds today, including several links to a winger who has impressed in the Eredivisie. Liverpool could also face competition from two Premier League rivals for a talented full-back.

Bradley Locko (Brest)

Liverpool are one of a number of Premier League clubs monitoring French left-back Bradley Locko ahead of the summer transfer window. Locko spent last season on loan at Brest from Reims before joining permanently before the start of this campaign.

He cost the club just $644,000 (£515,000/€500,000) but has been a revelation, featuring in every Ligue 1 game this term. Brest have enjoyed an outstanding campaign and are on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have made checks on the 22-year-old this season, while Aston Villa and West Ham are also keen. Locko is likely to be in France’s squad for the Olympics and could see his reputation grow further at the tournament.

Liverpool already have Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas on their books but are said to be keen on bringing in defensive reinforcements this summer. Both players battled injuries throughout the season.

Liverpool.com says: Locko has been excellent for Brest, who have taken Ligue 1 by storm. A new left-back does not appear to be a priority, but Robertson’s injury struggles could see a player like Locko targeted. That would likely mean Tsimikas is moved on, which may suit him as he looks for more first-team opportunities.

Johan Bakayoko (PSV Eindhoven)

Liverpool have been told they will need to raise significant funds if they are to sign PSV winger Johan Bakayoko this summer. The 21-year-old scored 14 goals and provided a further 14 assists for the Eredivisie champions.

He has been touted as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah at Anfield, while there are doubts over the long-term future of Luis Díaz, with PSG and Barcelona keen.

But according to HLN Nieuws, Liverpool will have to pay around $54m (£43m/€50m) to complete a deal for Bakayoko. That would be a similar sum to what the Reds splashed out on Cody Gakpo from PSV in January 2023.

Liverpool.com says: Arne Slot’s imminent arrival at Liverpool has led to links with a number of Eredivisie players. Bakayoko is among them and has caught the eye with PSV this season. It would be a lot of money for the winger though, but his reputation is growing and other clubs will be keen.
