Juventus want to sign ‘outstanding’ Leeds player, could re-team with Weston McKennie

Serie A giants Juventus and Napoli are mulling a move to sign the Leeds United player this summer and could see him team up with Weston McKennie once again.

Leeds will be in Championship play-off action this weekend when Daniel Farke takes on his old side Norwich City in the first leg of the semi-finals at Carrow Road on Sunday afternoon.

Promotion will be key in determining the futures of a number of Leeds players. A permanent deal for Joe Rodon and the futures of Willy Gnonto, Illan Meslier, Pascal Struijk and others could depend on promotion.

Championship player of the season Crysencio Summerville is another example of a player who will surely be looking for an exit at Elland Road if the Whites fail to win promotion at the first attempt this month.

The “outstanding” star has already been linked with a number of big clubs, including Liverpool, with a fee in excess of £30m expected to sign Summerville, whether he is in the Premier League or not.

But interest in Summerville doesn’t just stay in English football, with Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen also interested. Now, a new report claims that Juventus and Napoli want to take Summerville to Italy.

Crysencio Summerville could team up with Weston McKennie

McKennie fell out at Leeds but returned to Juventus where he reignited his career playing for Max Allegri’s side. There is talk of a new deal with The Old Lady after he provided 10 assists this term.

Juventus are set to be in next season’s Champions League with Allegri’s men third, and Italy are set for a fifth Champions League spot, while Napoli are seventh after winning Serie A.

Italian newspaper La Repubblica claims – according to CalcioNapoli24 – that both Juventus and Napoli want to sign Summerville. But the report says “the cost will be high”, although it only mentions a fee of £22m.

Summerville expected to leave if Aston Villa came calling

There have also been links with Villa, with Unai Emery also expected to lead his side to the Champions League despite losing to Brighton at the weekend, and Stephen Warnock giving his verdict.

Warnock believes that if there is a chance to work with a manager like Emery then Summerville will jump at it, especially if Leeds fail to climb through the Championship play-offs in the next fortnight.

It all depends on promotion as interest from across Europe continues to grow in him, which comes as no surprise to Leeds fans who have seen the Dutchman shine in a Leeds shirt throughout 2023-24.
