Huge insight into Danny Rohl’s Sheffield Wednesday future shared following Chansiri talks

Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri are believed to be engaged in positive talks over the club’s future.

The very early beginnings of this summer seem a lot different than last summer.

Sheffield Wednesday won promotion from League One last summer but soon parted ways with Darren Moore.

Moore and Chansiri have been deadlocked over a potential new deal for the former, so Sheffield Wednesday fans will be looking out for Rohl and Chansiri to meet this time to discuss Rohl’s future at the club.

But recent reports have revealed the pair have held positive talks over the club’s future, with Chansiri even overseeing some early improvements to Middlewood’s training ground.

And now, The Star say there is talk of a new contract for Rohl.

Danny Rohl is in line for new Sheffield Wednesday contract

It was previously claimed that Rohl has signed a contract with Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the upcoming 2024/25 season.

And now The Star report that recent talks between Rohl and Chansiri have also included discussions of a potential new contract for Rohl, with Chansiri clearly keen to extend the German’s stay.

Same ratio confirm that Rohl is under contract at Hillsborough until the summer of 2025 and that much of his backroom team are as well.

The main point of contention for Danny Rohl and Dejphon Chansiri

The shock of Moore’s exit is still very much felt among Sheffield Wednesday supporters.

Although things have worked out for the best, there is always the feeling that at Sheffield Wednesday such unexpected events often lie just around the corner.

And given how Moore and Chansiri met to discuss a new contract last summer, with the end result being Moore’s departure, there is certainly an element of suspense regarding Rohl’s contract.

But so far, everything seems to be moving in a positive direction for Sheffield Wednesday after securing Championship safety.

Chansiri seems to be pushing to keep Rohl happy, and if the controversial Owls owner can talk Rohl into a long-term deal as well, then it will be nothing short of a masterstroke.

Chansiri still has a long way to go to regain the trust of supporters after what has been his most controversial and open season.

But his actions will speak louder than his words and he needs to let his actions do the talking this summer and let Rohl handle the football side of things.

With interest in Rohl, a longer contract and a large compensation fee would be huge for Sheffield Wednesday.
