An emotional summer of reflection, reorientation and reinforcement – Coventry City Q&A

Coventry City’s season is done and dusted. It’s time for a well-deserved break for the Sky Blues players and staff after another memorable campaign, and a time for reflection and refocusing to prepare to go all out again in 2024/25.

While the club are not expected to be as busy in the transfer window as they were last summer, when 14 players left and ten came in, it certainly promises to be an exciting time as Mark Robins looks to strengthen his squad for to be better equipped to make a more sustained push for promotion in the coming period.

With that in mind, there are certainly several areas of the team that could make for additional competition and question marks over the futures of some existing players who have a year left to run. The manager, however, is determined to keep hold of his best players to give the team a solid foundation to build on.

As for the new recruits, it will be fascinating to see if City continue to tap into foreign markets to unearth some lesser-known gems or ply their trade closer to home. Will they continue to target relatively young players with development potential or will they mix and match and bring in more experience to help replace the likes of Kyle McFadzean and Liam Kelly.

Doug King has laid out his plans for what he hopes will be an “epic” season next time around and revealed that season tickets will go on sale soon, with the club owner aiming to better the record 19,500 sold last year.
