Manchester United’s value has been revealed at a whopping £230m

Manchester United’s value has risen to $6.2bn (£4.96bn), making it the world’s most valuable football club.

That’s according to figures collated by Sportico, whose data has seen United’s value rise by £230m in the past 12 months. Real Madrid is second on the list, valued at $6.06 billion.

Barcelona ($5.28 billion), Liverpool ($5.11 billion) and Bayern Munich ($4.8 billion) joined United and Madrid in the top five. United and Liverpool are two of nine Premier League clubs to make the top 50.

Manchester City is worth $4.75bn (£3.8bn), according to the report. This placed them sixth on the list.

Sportico arrives at its findings by calculating revenue streams based on figures published by the club’s accounts. The revenue figures take into account three categories: broadcast, advertising and match day.

The broadcast is comprised of domestic and international media deals, plus prize money for the competition. Commercial income is based on various avenues such as income from sponsorships, advertising, corporate hospitality, catering and non-matchday events, with kit and stadium sponsorship deals contributing to these figures.
