Woman injured after falling from Newquay cliff

A WOMAN was injured after falling from a cliff in Newquay in the early hours of this morning (May 8).

Coastguard Search and Rescue teams from Newquay and Padstow, Devon and Cornwall Police, South West Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident at Great Western Beach around at 3.45 in the morning.

The woman’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Emergency services were called to Cliff Road. “A woman was reported to have fallen from the cliffs and was injured on the beach below. “The police, paramedics, fire brigade and coast guard were called to the scene.

“The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.”

A spokesman for Newquay Coastguard said: “The team has been tasked to assist.

“One victim was taken to hospital by the ambulance service.

“We wish them a speedy recovery. We thank all the agencies involved.”
