A man has been arrested for vehicle offense after two warrants were executed in Birmingham

They were carried out in Birmingham this morning and arrested a man for vehicle offences.

Officers from the Motor Vehicle Crime Squad executed warrants on a suspect working at a business establishment in Bordesley Green this morning and at a residential property where a 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to steal from a motor vehicle. .

Officers believe the suspect could be involved in 14 car break-ins (also known as car cannibals) between March 2023 and April 2024 and the good work of police officers shows their commitment to tackling vehicle crime.

Police say they take all vehicle crime, including car cannibalism, seriously and that tackling this incredibly disturbing crime is a priority.

Detective Inspector Jim Munro from Birmingham Police said: “We went out this morning and arrested a man who we believe is linked to a number of car cannibalism offenses in Birmingham city centre.

“We carried out a warrant at an establishment in Bordesley Green and searched a nearby residential building. Today we will focus on interviewing that person and endeavor to put evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service.

“It is also part of our response to tackling car cannibalism in the West Midlands and to show the community that we are listening to the issues they raise with us.

“Here in Birmingham, my investigation teams are working very hard – and this is one of our priorities – to make sure we reduce this type of crime and also bring people before the courts.”
