Boss gives Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall transfer update as Leicester City chase Brazilian

Leicester City head coach Enzo Maresca has provided an update on in-demand Foxes midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. This is timely news for the Blue Army who are increasingly worried about the status of a star player. Although, the boss hasn’t exactly dispelled rumors of Dewsbury-Hall’s potential exit. In further transfer speculation, LCFC are eyeing a Brazilian on the rise. Foxes of Leicester provide opinion and analysis on the latest hears and news about the King Power team as always.

Portuguese Primeira Liga side Gil Vicente Futebol Clube stalwart Gabriel Pereira is back on the Foxes transfer wish list. Or, possibly more accurately, the defender remains a target at the King Power Stadium. This is despite the concern of supposed Financial Fair Play, or Profit and Sustainability, breach of the law hanging over the East Midlands club like a dark cloud. Regardless, LCFC ownership must find a way to strengthen the squad ahead of their deserved return to the Premier League.

One of the most obvious reasons for the slight or potentially radical improvement in the list is that the English top flight is the most demanding division in world football. This position is subjective, of course, as well as obvious, to be honest. Secondly, Maresca wants to strengthen the team; that probably means he doesn’t consider the side good enough to survive in the EPL with what they have now. I say this because the Italian has made it clear that the only aspiration for 2024/25 is to literally stay in the prem.

Finally, Maresca would be wanted by other outfits in England and abroad. These seem to be big clubs or that would rival Leicester in terms of drawing power and overall status. Securing the gaffer on an extended contract is therefore also something the LCFC hierarchy are said to be feverishly working on. And rightfully so.

Back to Pereira from Gil Vicente now, Portuguese business being one of the city’s main ports of call. Benfica, Braga, Udinese and Lyon are all rumored to be vying with the Foxes for the centre-back’s signature. According to the Leicester Mercury, he is recognized “continent-wide” for his skills.

Maresca admitted in the media that Leicester have to sell players in the off-season for FFP reasons. He also admitted that he’s only “hopeful” that “KDH” will be Fox for the next campaign:

“Enzo Maresca has stressed that Leicester City must replace key players sold this summer and the manager is still ‘hopeful’ Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will be with the club next season.

With City needing profit from their books, Dewsbury-Hall is at risk of being sold. The midfielder, City’s player of the season, has indicated that he has no plans to leave, but he is valuable and his sale would count as pure profit given that he is an academy graduate.

Brighton signed the 25-year-old in the January window and Maresca suggested he expects more Premier League sides to come in once the top-flight campaign is over. But if City sell Dewsbury-Hall, who was on crutches for the last game of the season after injuring his ankle, then Maresca is asking for a replacement.”
