Birmingham man accused of sexually assaulting 4 different women on city’s west side

A 36-year-old Birmingham man is behind bars accused of sexually assaulting four different women.

Christian Jerel Thomas is charged with first-degree kidnapping, four counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree rape and six counts of first-degree sodomy.

The Birmingham Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team arrested Thomas on April 30, police said Wednesday. He is being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the investigation began in February when a woman reported to police that she had been robbed and sexually assaulted in west Birmingham.

Then in April, detectives investigated three separate cases involving three women who were sexually assaulted and/or robbed, also in west Birmingham.

The Birmingham Police Department and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office believe there may be other victims.

Anyone who believes they were a victim of Thomas is asked to call the Special Victims Unit 205-297-8413 or contact the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) Unit at 205-325-1423 or DA_SAKI_group @jccal.org.
