Birmingham City will benefit from a £935m deal despite being relegated to League One

At least 20 Birmingham City games will be televised live next season as part of Sky Sports’ new deal with the EFL.

The £935m deal was signed in April and will see Sky Sports broadcast more than 1,000 EFL matches next season. The Blues’ relegation to League One will barely affect viewing after the broadcaster committed to showing a minimum of 20 games in the 2024/25 campaign.

Sky’s existing TV deal with the EFL does not guarantee any televised matches for League One and Two clubs. Selected Carabao Cup matches and all EFL Trophy matches – a competition the Blues will be competing in for the first time since winning it in 1995 – will be available for supporters to watch on Sky Sports+.

Every game outside the traditional 3pm Saturday ban will be broadcast live, with at least two games televised every weekend in League One. Every game on the opening and closing weekends of the season will be broadcast by Sky Sports.

The League One season is likely to kick off on Friday 9 August with a live match at 8pm. The Blues will reveal their fixture list for the upcoming campaign at 9am on Wednesday 26 June.

Sky has pledged to give supporters more consideration when selecting games for live coverage from the start of the season. At the end of the season, when selections are more difficult to make, Sky will try to give fans a minimum of four weeks’ notice.
