Norwich City’s Achilles heel can be used to Leeds United’s advantage in the semi-final at Elland Road

Despite a rather underwhelming end to their Championship campaign, Leeds United have the opportunity to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking in the coming weeks.

The Whites ended their league season by taking four points from their last six games to finish six points behind Ipswich Town, who secured automatic promotion alongside Leicester City. United will now turn their attention to the play-offs where they face Norwich City.

Daniel Farke’s side have beaten the Canaries both home and away this term, their last defeat in East Anglia over six years ago. And Leeds will take confidence from their form on the road and in front of their home fans, hoping to use it to their advantage over the course of the two-legged tie.

Beaten only by Kieran McKenna’s side, the Whites have collected 53 points from their 23 games at Elland Road this season, losing just twice, both coming in the penultimate month of the campaign against Blackburn Rovers and Southampton. Their record away from LS11 is also among the top teams in the division, ranking fourth best in the league.

Norwich have turned Carrow Road into a fortress this season, picking up 49 points throughout the campaign. However, it proved to be far from home which prevented David Wagner’s team from shaking up the race for the top two.

From the 23 games played by East Anglia, the Canaries managed to collect only 24 points, which included 11 defeats. Compared to the other teams in the division, the teams that finished in the bottom five positions were below them.
