Birmingham Loves Libraries hopes to bring all the campaigns together.

People in Birmingham are being urged to speak up and fight to keep their libraries open.

Birmingham Loves Libraries is aiming to boost the chances of keeping more open in the city after council budget cuts suggested most could be closed.

It comes after Birmingham City Council opened a public consultation on April 4 for people to have their say on proposed changes to local library services. This is live until July.

Local campaigners are urging others to have their say in the council’s public consultation to save as many as possible.

Acocks Green’s Joe Simpson told us they have made good progress so far and the locals should use it as an incentive to keep fighting.

“I urge people to get in touch with their councilors because I think what we’ve seen is that the campaigning and the organizing that we’ve done has made a difference and really changed the debate around libraries and moved the council on that. and there’s really no reason why we can’t move them on.

“The people of Birmingham need to know that there is absolutely everything to play for here. The more we stand up and make our voices heard, the more we will go out and campaign on these issues, change the agenda on them really. damaging cuts to our local services.”
