Traffic on the M6 ​​is moving as the lane closed near Coventry after a fire

Commuters using the M6 ​​near Coventry are being warned they could face delays following a huge fire. Police and firefighters were called to the M6 ​​Northbound before junction 2 of the M69 at Coventry to reports that an HGV had caught fire.

Due to its impact, there was major damage to the road section. As a result, lane three out of three was closed.




It is set to be closed all day, traffic website Inrix reports. This is said to be to ensure that emergency repairs can be made to the barriers.


“Lane three (of three) will remain closed all day for repairs and maintenance this evening,” the online traffic website said. This is already having an impact on the M6.

Currently, Inrix says traffic is “handling well”, but as peak times roll in, with more vehicles on the road, it could cause more congestion.

This caused severe damage to the barriers and part of the highway. Repairs are required and are due to take place later today.

So one lane of the stretch of highway had to be closed.
