Sheffield Wednesday are weighing in on Leeds United youngster Keenan Carole

Sheffield Wednesday are set to sign Leeds United youngster Keenan Carole with the French winger out of contract this summer.

The 19-year-old son of former Whites star Sebastien Carole has not featured for Leeds Under-21s since December and featured for the Owls U21s in a 2-1 win over Ipswich Town last week.

Wednesday survived relegation to League One thanks to an upturn in form under manager Danny Rohl, with Leeds loanee Ian Poveda playing a key role. The Owls are reportedly keen to sign him on a permanent deal, but they will face competition.

Carole looks set to make the Hillsborough switch if Wednesday decide to sign him this summer, having made nine appearances for Leeds U21s this season.

Speaking in 2022, when Keenan signed his first contract with Leeds, dad Sebastian said: “I had talent, yes, but I didn’t really like being injured. Let’s just say I wasn’t a hard worker. On the other hand, Keenan, one of my three sons, is the complete opposite. He has crazy energy on the pitch, he can do a lot of things, with and without the ball.

“He deserves it because, in parallel with his studies, he shows immense seriousness. He is a good kid who works hard to succeed. This is just one step in his career. He plays the same position as me, but he does it with a lot more determination.”
