Fixtures, first leg and play-off final: Key League One fixtures for Birmingham City

Birmingham City will reveal their fixture list for the upcoming League One campaign on Wednesday, June 26.

The Blues will play in the third tier for the first time in 29 years after being relegated from the Championship on the final day of the season. A win over Norwich City was not enough for the Blues due to Plymouth Argyle’s 1-0 win over Hull City.

The League One season starts on the same weekend as the Championship and Sky Sports is showing more EFL games than ever before. The Blues’ season will begin on the weekend of August 10/11, although a League One fixture is likely to be moved to Friday, August 9.

The EFL announced on Wednesday that match launch day is June 26 this year, which is around the time pre-season training starts for most clubs.

Blues fans have plenty of new grounds to visit in League One and the club have already been installed as favorites for promotion. Other relegated clubs Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United – now under Steve Evans – will also be expected to challenge.

Hollywood-backed Wrexham are another team to watch after back-to-back promotions from the National League to League 1. It would surprise no one if the Blues’ meetings with Wrexham are picked by Sky Sports.
