Police called to Leicester primary school after 11-year-old boy ‘took a knife from the kitchen’

Police were called to a school in Leicester after a boy allegedly took a knife from the kitchen. Officers from Leicestershire Police attended Montrose Primary in Wigston Lane, Aylestone on Friday (May 3) after receiving a report shortly before 2pm that an 11-year-old boy was in possession of a ” vegetable knife”.

The force said the knife was taken from the boy by staff. He added that officers were liaising with the school as investigations into the incident continued.




In a message to parents, seen by LeicestershireLive, the school said “at no time was any child in danger”. It said that “the child in question will be dealt with appropriately” and that he is “no longer at school”. The school thanked staff in the message for reacting “promptly” to “ensure all children remained safe”.

A police spokesman said: “Shortly before 2pm on Friday (May 3), a report was received that an 11-year-old boy was in possession of a vegetable knife at a school in Wigston Lane, Leicester.

“The boy was reported to have taken the knife from the school kitchen before staff then took it away. Officers are liaising with the school while inquiries into the incident continue.”
