Bedminster Down Church transformed into music venue

A church in Bedminster Down has opened as a new music venue. St Dunstan’s House on Bedminster Down Road celebrated its opening with an “unprecedented night of music, energy and unity” and a “journey through soundscapes created by the most talented artists on the scene”.

Described as ‘nestled in the enchanting atmosphere of St Dunstan’s House’, the team behind it say: ‘A venue on the rise, St Dunstan’s House, with its rich history and architectural grandeur, is reborn as the newest dating hot spot exceptional. Be a part of history as we introduce this iconic venue to the world of music and celebration.”

The venue’s new music event nights are the latest projects from the Firmly Rooted team, who are behind other ventures in the city such as St Pauls Carnival, Boomtown’s Sub-Lab, Teachings in Dub and also linked to other events big ones like Love Saves the Day and even Glastonbury.

According to the Bristol & Avon Family History Society, St Dunstan’s was built in 1897 and has recently been listed as a rental space online. It is described as offering a “unique space with a mix of modern and gothic art, perfect for performances, dance, yoga, workshops, weddings and conferences”.

Inside the venue, visitors will find a “dramatic” hall with a marble floor and stained glass windows, which organizers say provides a “distinctive background” for the events here. It is not yet known when the next music event will take place at St Dunstan’s, and the website is currently empty of event dates, but the team hope it will help “build a community around arts and culture”.
