A young child from Cornwall meets the heroes of first responders after a road accident

Cornwall, Ontario — In a heartfelt gathering at the Cornwall Fire Station last week, three-year-old Jonah met the first responders who helped him and his family after a serious car accident that evening on April 10, 2024, at Fourth Street and Sydney Street. Jonah, who was rushed to CHEO with significant injuries, is making a promising recovery.

Fire Chief Matthew Stephenson expressed his gratitude to all involved. St. Andrew Booth-Reddick, Const. Crosby, St. MacGillivray, Dispatch Marcotte and CPS Dispatch Ferland were among those recognized for their role in assisting Jonah and his family.

St. Booth-Reddick reflected on the moment, “Seeing Jonah come back with a smiling face after everything he and his family have been through is one of those opportunities we cherish as emergency workers. Watching the situation go from tragedy to a happy ending will be something we will all remember.”

“Jonah’s reaction was priceless as he entered the room full of community heroes from Cornwall Police Service, Cornwall Fire Service and SDG Paramedic Service. Jonah’s smile when he saw the community heroes lined up for him truly embodied the spirit of hope,” added Booth-Reddick.
