The Enfield native has been promoted to president/CEO of the local credit union

ENFIELD, CT — An Enfield native who rose through the ranks in 14 years at Enfield Community Federal Credit Union recently reached a pinnacle with his appointment as president and CEO.

Nicholas L. Major, a 2005 graduate of Enfield High School and holder of an associate degree in business management from Asnuntuck Community College, takes over the top management position vacated by the retirement of Myron Kolinsky in the fall.

Major began his career at the credit union as a member service representative in early 2010. Since then, he has held several roles, including back office operations and vice president, before his recent promotion.

Enfield Community Federal Credit Union has a long history of supporting its members. It was incorporated on October 19, 1936 as the Bigelow-Sanford Employees Credit Union to serve local carpet mill employees. In 1971, when the carpet company moved south, the credit union was granted a community charter and expanded membership. Its charter has been expanded to accept all who live and work in Hartford, Somers, Ellington, Stafford County and their families.

The credit union now serves more than 3,700 members who live, work and worship in Enfield and surrounding towns.
