Coventry City legend reveals Championship contract talks among ‘offers on offer’

Coventry legend Kyle McFadzean weighs up his options as he finds himself in the enviable position of being a wanted man. The former Sky Blues skipper, who remains a huge fan favorite despite moving to Blackburn Rovers in January, is now considering his next move as he fully intends to continue his playing career for at least another campaign .

The 37-year-old has more than played his part in keeping Rovers in the Championship this season, not least on the final day when John Eustace’s men saved themselves from the drop with a brilliant win at the Leicester City.

And Eustace – another former Coventry captain – has told McFadzean he wants him to stay at Ewood Park, while the Sheffield man revealed he had other offers closer to home, suggesting newly relegated Rotherham would have been on the phone with the free agent.

McFadzean began his career at Sheffield United but Wednesday’s cross-town rivals could also be an option after narrowly beating the drop. Another South Yorkshire club who could be interested are Doncaster Rovers, who are currently in the League Two play-offs, bidding to return to League One.

“We’re talking (to Blackburn) at the moment, we’ve had a few offers from home as well,” McFadzean told The Lancashire Telegraph.

“I’m open, we’ll see what happens. We have had discussions this week and hopefully we can work something out. I want to stay, but you never know in football. It’s harder because I’ve had a few local teams give me offers as well.
