ASOS shoppers say it’s a ‘sick joke’ when they find out the price of the shoes

ASOS shoppers believe they could buy a pair of shoes for much cheaper – just by going to a market.

The black sandals, with a chunky flat base and glittery beading, have created quite a stir online. That’s because the online retailer sold them for £42.

It’s a lot more than you’d find in a local shop or budget stores like Primark, which is why people are up in arms over X (formerly known as Twitter).

A social media user named Taylor expressed her surprise online, tweeting: “I can’t believe ASOS are selling these slippers for a grand FOURTY two pounds!”

Her post quickly gained popularity, garnering over 232,000 views. One viewer criticized: “These were sold in Primark and every market at the time. ASOS is wild”.

Another pointed out: “East Street Market would be three for £15. And a third joked: “We’ll just go to the market, let’s be real hahaha.”

Another shocked user from X asked: “Is this a sick joke? I used to get five of them.”

However, bargain hunters needn’t lose hope, as one customer noted: “I’m counting on Primark to hook me up with a cheaper pair.”

A few cheeky shoppers suggested ASOS was trying to ‘gentrify’ the classic slides, while others simply couldn’t believe such shoes were back in style.

While fashion fans weren’t too enamored with these shoes, there are other items they love. Earlier, the online retailer was praised for releasing a dress that looked exactly like the one worn by Maya Jama.
