Premiere of Manchester United Treble LIVE documentary featuring David Beckham and other stars

Manchester United’s iconic stars gather at Manchester Printworks tonight for the premiere of the new Amazon Prime documentary ’99’.

The next release will cover the final stages of United’s historic treble campaign in 1998/99, which saw them become the first English club to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season. The Reds won all three trophies in just 10 historic days.

The documentary, which will be released on May 17, is made up of three parts and will feature interviews with the men who made such a historic achievement possible, including manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Players who have been interviewed include the likes of Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and David Beckham.

Amazon said the documentary will feature never-before-seen archive footage, as well as candid behind-the-scenes footage of the club and fans. Ahead of the launch next week, a red carpet event will take place in Manchester city center tonight.

This year, of course, marks the 25th anniversary of the historic Treble win and it will be celebrated tonight. Beckham will be in attendance, as will Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole.

We’ve got reporters on the ground at Printworks to bring you live updates on what’s happening…

The Great Dane

Peter Schmeichel played such an important role in that extraordinary season. The Danish goalkeeper wrote his name into folklore with some of his performances during the campaign – who will forget his penalty save late in normal time in the FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal?

And then there was his hand acrobatics in celebration after the Champions League winner. I wonder if he is still as athletic?

The players arrive

The stars of 1999 are out in force. So far we’ve seen Peter Schmeichel, Nicky Butt, Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole on the red carpet.

How the current team would love to have those stars in the side now.
