The M5 crash has caused delays and congestion on the motorway in South Gloucestershire

Motorists faced delays on the M5 in South Gloucestershire after a crash today, Thursday 9 May. Two lanes were closed on the motorway southbound between Thornbury and Almondsbury Interchange this lunchtime, but reopened at around 1pm.

According to the National Highways, queues formed and drivers faced delays of around 15 minutes per stretch. Google Maps also reported congestion in the area.




The Inrix traffic monitor says: “Two lanes closed due to an accident on the M5 southbound from J14 B4509 (Thornbury/Falfield) to J15 M4 J20 (Almondsbury Interchange). The traffic is doing well.”

According to the National Highways, the collision cleared shortly after 12:30 p.m. It read: “All lanes are now open on #M5 southbound between J14 #Dursley and J15 (#M4) Long delays remain, but this should start to ease.”
