Manchester United could lead the race for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo this summer – Paper Round

United get a Adarabioyo boost

Manchester United could be a step up as they pursue Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

The Mirror believes his history of working with United technical director Jason Wilcox when the pair were at Manchester City could help them.

The paper explains: “Manchester United could be in pole position to sign Fulham ace Tosin Adarabioyo.

“The defender is out of contract in the summer and is attracting a lot of attention. But his links with new United technical director Jason Wilcox, who worked with Adarabioyo at Manchester City, could give the Red Devils an advantage in negotiations. The 26-year-old is set to be available on a free transfer with Newcastle, Chelsea and Tottenham all potentially in the market for his services.

“The former England youth international joined Fulham from City, where he played under Wilcox in the academy, for £2m in 2020.

“He only played a few first-team games for Pep Guardiola’s side and never played in the Premier League, but he flourished in London. United are looking for a new centre-half with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans.”

Lopetegui makes the shortlist for West Ham

The Sun report that Youssef En-Nesyri and Marcos Acuna are two players Julen Lopetegui wants when he takes over at West Ham.

Striker Michail Antonio and defender Aaron Cresswell are in their thirties, prompting a search for reinforcements.

The paper says: “Julen Lopetegui is already drawing up shortlists of potential signings this summer as he moves closer to becoming the next West Ham boss.

“And the Spaniard is considering raiding former club Sevilla for striker Youssef En-Nesyri and defender Marcos Acuna.

“Current Hammers boss David Moyes is leaving at the end of the season and Lopetegui has been in talks to take over.

“He believes West Ham need a new striker with current centre-forward Michail Antonio now 34.

“En-Nesyri, 26, has been linked with them before but with his old manager set to take over at the London Stadium, he is now keen to try the Premier League.”

Partey’s future is unclear at Arsenal

Arsenal have signed Italian midfielder Jorginho to a new one-year contract, raising questions over the future of another midfielder.

Thomas Partey is linked with an exit and is struggling for fitness, the Daily Mail reports.

The paper says: “Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has signed a new one-year contract until June 2025.

“The Italy international joined The Gunners from west London rivals Chelsea for £12m last January, signing an 18-month contract with the option of an additional year.

“The deal is particularly crucial given the uncertain future of fellow defensive midfielder Thomas Partey, whose season has been blighted by injuries. His contract expires in June 2025.”

Chelsea to decide Pochettino’s fate

Chelsea will review their season after the game at Bournemouth in an event that could decide Mauricio Pochettino’s future.

The Argentine has struggled to improve the squad this season and the club do not want to wait too long to make a decision.

“Chelsea will stick to their plan to hold an end-of-season review in the days after the club’s final game against Bournemouth, which will ultimately determine the future of head coach Mauricio Pochettino,” claims the Telegraph.

“Pochettino will have a year left on the contract he signed last summer at the end of the season, although Chelsea have the option to extend it by a further 12 months.

“Chelsea’s intention since hiring Pochettino has always been to assess his performance, along with the performance of the club as a whole, at the end of his first season in charge, regardless of fluctuations in form and results.

“That’s why Pochettino was never in danger of being sacked after disappointing results, such as the 5-0 drubbing at Arsenal or when the fans chanted against him during the draw at Brentford. But it also explains why assurances about his future beyond this season have yet to be offered with three games left to play.

“Pochettino himself has suggested he will seek clarification on the issues from the owners and sporting directors at the end of the season, meaning his future cannot simply be decided by the club.

“The end-of-season review, which is likely to include Pochettino, sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart and members of Behdad Eghbali’s co-ownership team, Todd Boehly and Jose E Feliciano, is expected to take place in the days after the Bournemouth game .”
