The man put blue lights on his car and pulled a woman down a country road

A fake police officer put blue lights on his car and pulled a woman over on a country road. Chris Green pleaded guilty to impersonating a police officer days after his arrest in May 2023 – but later changed his plea to not guilty.

A trial took place at Swindon Crown Court yesterday where he was convicted of the offense and could face a spell behind bars. Tom Power, prosecuting, said the defendant was driving a Ford Fiesta at about 50km/h in a 100km/h zone when a woman “became uneasy” and overtook him.

Moments later, Green overtook the woman with his blue lights on in his vehicle. Believing she had been stopped by the police, she fired into Longsplatt, in Box, Wiltshire.

Green got out of the vehicle and confronted her at her car window – telling her she was driving dangerously. During the incident on May 6 last year, she asked him where he was from and he replied with words such as: “I work for law enforcement, a local undercover crime unit The Brotherhood.”

The car used to pull the woman

He continued to walk around the vehicle, looking around. When she noticed that her child was also in the car, she is said to have changed her tune and left immediately.

The victim said the stop felt “weird and weird” and said she “felt uncomfortable” throughout the interaction. The incident was reported to the police after she informed her husband.

Police continued to search for the suspect car and luckily found it in the Chippenham area two days later – Monday (8 May 2023). When Green was pulled over, officers found the blue light flashing inside his vehicle.

They also found a baseball bat and handcuffs. The defendant, a security guard who worked at the Badminton Horse Trials, denied intentionally leading the woman to believe he was a police officer.
