The great event through mobilityThe Mobility Scheme’s big event returns to Birmingham with an ‘electrifying’ line-up for 2024Hosted by the Motability Scheme and with a focus on the electric motor, The Big Event returns to the NEC in Birmingham on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 May 2024.

Bringing together the widest range of vehicles available on the Scheme, test drives are available to book on the day and visitors can try out standard vehicles, including electric vehicles and some fitted with popular driving adaptations.

Mobility equipment suppliers including TGA Mobility and Rehasense UK will be inviting visitors to get up close and personal with their products at their respective stands.

The event also features a packed line-up of ‘Speaker Sessions’ where an incredible range of inspirational speakers will take to the main stage. From celebrities, Motability Scheme ambassadors, automotive and electric vehicle (EV) industry experts, the speaker program promises to inspire and educate.

Mobility program clients and ambassadors Helen Dolphin MBE and former Royal Marine Mark Ormrod MBE will be there to host and guide visitors through an exciting two-day line-up on the main stage.

Audiences will enjoy a series of interviews, presentations and panel discussions about inspiring personal stories, the evolution of electric vehicles and how Scheme is preparing its customers for the future of mobility.

Highlights include what car editor Steve Huntingford and Lead editor, Matt Lizzimore, offering his expert views on automotive innovation.

Disability Mobility and Advocacy Program Ambassador Lucy Edwards shares her journey from losing her sight to becoming a thriving business woman and how her Scheme car enables her freedom.

TV presenter and Paralympian Steve Brown will share his personal story of becoming a Paralympian to appearing as a TV presenter.

Live Interview with Will Bayley, Darren Harris and Mark Ormrod – join host Mark Ormrod as he talks to Paralympian and former Strictly competitor Will Bayley and Paralympian Darren Harris about their unique life stories, personal struggles and what keeps them motivated.

Visitors can look forward to having all their questions answered by Scheme experts, seeing an increased range of electric vehicles and exploring the UK’s largest display of wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs). The event will also see the return of the Innovation Zone, where disabled people and their families can see live demonstrations and get advice on charging an electric vehicle at home or on the go.

Katie Clare, The Big Event Manager, said: “Last summer we had over 12,000 visitors to the NEC and we are delighted to be back. We’re delighted to bring a new focus on electric vehicles to The Big Event series so our customers have the chance to see the latest range of electric vehicles and even try one out for themselves.”

For anyone unable to attend in person, The Big Event Birmingham is also streamed live. Viewers can watch at home and see the best bits from the two days, including live speaker sessions, exclusive interviews, demos, Q&As and footage.
