A teenager’s “dream comes true” after his grandfather’s “shenanigans”.

A Liverpool teenager has fulfilled her ‘dream’ after winning a national competition.

Dottie Byrne, of Thornton, beat the odds to become PGL Adventure’s first national content creator for kids’ camps. She was selected from the rest of the candidates because of her “impressive digital editing skills and confidence on camera” – both of which are self-taught.

The 15-year-old has been going to PGL camps since she was eight, so this is a full-circle moment for her.

The Holy Family High School pupil told the ECHO: “This is a dream come true. I’ve always had a passion for shooting and editing my videos, but now I’ll be able to create content about one of the holidays I love the most. I’m confident that if anyone can capture the magic and fun of a kids’ camp, it’s me.”

After seeing her older sister enjoying camp during the school holidays, Dottie asked her mother if she could go. Since then, she has been involved in some “amazing activities”, including visiting Alton Towers.

Dottie said: “The best thing was that there were no parents, so I learned to become really independent. Once I got home my mum saw an advert for a pony riding holiday, I always wanted to try it but it was very expensive so grandpa treated me and I had to go back.
