Keane announces new show in Manchester after cancellation of Co-op Live gig

Keane announced his plans to return to Manchester following the cancellation of a recent concert which was scheduled to take place at Co-op Live.

The British rock group, who celebrate 20 years since the release of their debut album Hopes and Fears today, were planning to play the £365million arena last Sunday (May 5) as part of an anniversary tour.

But the show was canceled after a nozzle from an air conditioning unit fell from the venue’s ceiling during a pre-show by US rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.

As bosses continued to carry out safety inspections and work to finalize the venue, the rapper’s show was canceled at the last minute before being rescheduled at the AO Arena last Saturday. Two Olivia Rodrigo shows were also postponed, while Take That’s five-show run this week was forced to move to the AO Arena.

At the time, Keane issued a statement saying they were “absolutely disappointed not to be able to celebrate 20 years of Hopes and Fears at Co-op Live”. The band said: “This is due to ongoing technical issues at the venue and is completely out of our control.

“We tried hard to find a solution as we know many of you had made travel plans but it just wasn’t possible. We are truly disappointed that this has happened and are doing everything we can to reschedule the show.”

Now, it has been announced that the band will return to the city-region with a show at Co-op Live on October 19. They will be joined by support from The Lathums during the show. In a new statement, the band said: “We are delighted to announce that our gig at Manchester Co-op Live will be rescheduled for Saturday 19 October 2024.
