More big changes for passengers at East Midlands Airport

Passengers traveling to and from East Midlands Airport (EMA) over the spring break and summer will benefit from a range of upgrades, bosses have said. “Modern, stylish seating” was installed in the departure lounge, along with a tree sculpture equipped with phone charging points.

The refurbished lounge is located next to a newly opened JD Sports store, the largest retail unit in the terminal, while a smaller unit vacated by JD Sports will soon house the new bar The Yard, a carrier said word. The airport has 500 new trolleys for travelers to use, and “enhanced Wi-Fi for customers is scheduled to be rolled out in the terminal next month.”




The latest changes follow the refurbishment of the Castle Rock bar and kitchen earlier this year, as well as the addition of new baby changing facilities, Changing Place toilets and a prayer room in the departure lounge, and are part of a 120 investment plan million pounds for EMA over the next five years, which also includes upgrades to the runway and taxiways, as well as the installation of “state-of-the-art” air traffic control equipment, the spokesman added.

Around 328,000 passengers used Leicestershire Airport last month alone, the spokesman said. The number of passengers exceeded four million for the first time since the pandemic, they added.
