A Birmingham man has been jailed for eight-and-a-half years for firearms and drug offences.

A firearms warrant was executed by West Midlands Police officers at Jelani Selassie’s home last September.

Officers searching the property on Lees Street in Winson Green found three loaded firearms hidden inside the 34-year-old’s bed liner.

They also found ammunition, cash, more than £3,000 worth of cannabis and £15,000 worth of cocaine.

Selassie pleaded guilty on March 5 to three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon (six years for each offense to run concurrently), possession of ammunition (two years concurrent), possession with intent of a Class B drug (12 months concurrent) and possession with intent to supply class A drugs (two and a half years consecutive).

He was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court yesterday (May 9).
