Hat-trick for Hull girls at the Inspiresport Champion Schools Festivals

Malet Lambert School in Hull will have three girls’ teams involved in July’s Champions Schools Finals Day after their Year 8, 9 and 10 teams triumphed at this week’s national festivals, winning all their semi-finals without conceding a point.

Malet’s Year 8 team beat Outwood Academy (Haydock) 26-0, Year 9 won 50-0 against Castleford Academy and the Year 10 girls beat St Peter’s Catholic High (Wigan) 26-0.

The three Malet teams Archbishop Sentamu Academy (Year 8), St Peters RC High School (Year 9) and Castleford Academy (Year 10) await the three Malet teams at the DIY Kitchens Stadium in Wakefield Trinity on Friday 5th July. Archbishop Sentamu beat St John Fisher (Wigan) 20-10, while St Peters won 18-10 against West Lakes Academy (Egremont) Cumbria) and Castleford Academy beat Rainford High School (St Helens) with 16-12 in dramatic fashion with a last moment. try.

Rainford High will, however, be represented in the Year 7 final after beating Ysgol Glantaf (Cardiff) 14-10 after golden point extra time. Their opponents will be St Bede’s & St Joesph’s (Bradford) who defeated Archbishop Sentamu’s Academy 34-10.

Final day action will kick off in Wakefield at 10.45am on Friday 5th July and will also include the Year 8, 9 and 10 boys finals.

Castleford Academy enjoyed a boys/girls double on the year 11 finals day last month, while the year 7 boys final for the Steven Mullaney Trophy will be played at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 8 June before women’s Challenge Cup final. St Peter’s RC High School (Wigan) will play Ysgol Glantaf (Cardiff).
